ERC Synergy Grants enable a small group of two to four Principal Investigators to bring together complementary skills, knowledge, and resources in new ways, in order to address ambitious research problems.
Eligibility
- Citizenship: International (research conducted in an EU Member State or Associated Country)
- GPA: N/A (2-4 Principal Investigators with excellent track records)
- Ground-breaking research proposal that requires synergistic approach

Timeline
Call for applications typically opens in July. Deadline in November. Results published the following summer.
Tips
The synergy aspect is crucial; clearly define how the combined expertise of the PIs creates added value beyond individual contributions. The research project must be highly ambitious and cross-disciplinary. Strong PIs with excellent track records are essential.
