Gather Documents
W-2s, 1099-NEC/MISC/INT/DIV/B, 1098 mortgage interest, 1098-T/E education, property tax records, charitable receipts, K-1 forms, 1095-A, and SSA-1099. Have everything on hand before you start.

Review Income
Verify wages, self-employment income, and investment gains/losses. Check OBBBA 2025 provisions: tips deduction (up to $25K), overtime deduction (up to $12.5K), and senior bonus deduction ($6K).

File Returns
Choose a federal filing method (IRS Direct File, Free File, or a provider). File state return through your state portal. Request an extension with Form 4868 if you need more time. Final review before submission.
