LOC Method (Moisture Retention)
- L - Liquid/Leave-in: Water spray or water-based leave-in conditioner. Water is the #1 moisturizer.
- O - Oil: Natural oil (coconut, olive, jojoba). Seals in moisture, prevents evaporation.
- C - Cream: Curl cream or butter. Defines curls and adds protection.
Ingredients to Avoid
- Sulfates (SLS, SLES): Strip natural oils. Especially damaging for 3-4 type hair.
- Parabens: Preservatives linked to endocrine disruption. Extra caution for children.
- Silicones (dimethicone): Build up on hair, prevent moisture penetration.
- Mineral oil/petroleum: Coat hair but don't moisturize. May worsen cradle cap.
- Artificial fragrances: Potential allergens. Baby scalp is more sensitive.
