Barbell Back Squat
How to Perform
- Step 1: Position the barbell on your upper traps.
- Step 2: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, toes slightly out.
- Step 3: Descend by breaking at hips and knees simultaneously.
- Step 4: Go to at least parallel (thighs parallel to floor).
- Step 5: Drive up through your heels to stand.
Tips
- Keep your chest up and core braced.
- Push knees out over toes — do not let them cave in.
- Use a belt for heavier loads.
