Barbell Back Squat

How to Perform

  1. Step 1: Position the barbell on your upper traps.
  2. Step 2: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, toes slightly out.
  3. Step 3: Descend by breaking at hips and knees simultaneously.
  4. Step 4: Go to at least parallel (thighs parallel to floor).
  5. Step 5: Drive up through your heels to stand.

Tips

  • Keep your chest up and core braced.
  • Push knees out over toes — do not let them cave in.
  • Use a belt for heavier loads.
